Re: clintwood vs. honaker

Clintwood won 26-6. They jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter and Robinson got a shoulder stinger and they let him sit the rest of the game. They were absolutely dominating for the first quarter and a half hitting like no Clintwood team since 99. When Robinson got hurt they just seemed to go flat and go through the motions. The offense had 0 turnovers but forced 3-5 from Ball from Honaker. He had a rough night and took a pretty good beating. Aside from 1 run he had with less than a minute to go in the first half, their offense really did nothing all night.

Yes. He was about beaten to death in the first half. Especially the first quarter. Clintwood starting subbing some in the second quarter and the big hits seemed to slow down.

If I'm not mistaken he put up some pretty big numbers last year, does anyone know what to expect from Honaker and Haysi this year??

Ball's a very good player. He had zero blocking though. It looks like the same team as last year basically. Huge line, Ball, some tall lanky recievers, a respectable qb. For some reason they just couldn't block Clintwood. I hope it's more that Clintwood's front was playing very well than the Honaker line was stinking it up.

I was at the scrimmage last year when TW scrimmaged Clintwood and I'll have to say, you could tell they were young but the talent was there. You guys were a class act to us when we came up there last year and I wish you all the best of luck in the LPD this year.

Re: clintwood vs. honaker

Ball got his yards but he was pretty much it, at least tonight. Clintwood played extremely strong early, but was it just me or did the first half last forever? I think one of our coaches said it was right near an hour and a half. New clock operator I think, and I swear, I'd think he was stopping the clock early when it didn't need to be.

I think ball ended up with about 180 yards on 19 carries, with 81 coming on one carry there in the second quarter, when the emotion, steam, energy or whatever it was kind of came out of Clintwood.

Just going by what I had, he had 180 yards rushing, the team had 178 for the game, so he wasn't getting much help.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

Re: clintwood vs. honaker

I thought Clintwood looked good the 1st qtr but faded as the game went on (I know that there was some subbing but I also think Clintwood wore down a bit)

Honaker has nothing past Ball(but he is very good) on Offense and if he puts the ball on the ground as much as he did vs Clintwood it will be a long season for Honaker.

Run D for Clintwood was solid vs the run outside of the 1 big run while the whole 1st team was on the field

Pass D IMHO still needs a bit of work but I will say that the Clinwood DBs made the Honaker receivers pay for the catches they made for the morst part

Re: clintwood vs. honaker

If Clintwood's defense doesn't improve, it will be a long year. Like it or lump it, we played pretty bad against a p i s s poor Honaker team. I thought Ball and their QB were fine football players. Ironlung, you didn't even holler. I'm hurt.
